Our teachers hold years of piano pedagogy training and experience teaching students of all levels and ages.

MEET OUR FACULTY

DIRECTOR- DR. JOANNE KANG - pianist and teaching artist
Korean-Australian pianist, Dr. Joanne Kang, has appeared on the stages of the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, Perth Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Weill Recital Hall and Stern Auditorium presented by Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Lincoln Center, among others, as a soloist and chamber musician. Collaboration highlights include performances with Julia Wolfe, The American String Quartet, The Afield, American Modern Opera Company, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, members of the Silk Road Ensemble, and Kaija Saariaho for the world premiere of her final chamber composition, Semafor.
Dr. Kang holds Associate, Licentiate, and Fellowship of Music Diplomas from AMEB Australia and a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.
Dr. Kang has taught undergraduate + graduate piano and keyboard skills classes, piano lessons, and studio classes at the Manhattan School of Music as the assistant of the late piano faculty, Prof. Phillip Kawin, and as a teaching fellow for the Keyboard Skills department. She has also held residencies at Skidmore College NY teaching piano lessons and coaching chamber music groups, and has worked as a teaching artist in NYC Public Schools for the NYC Department of Education.
As a passionate teaching artist, Dr. Kang strives to uphold the values of empowerment and community accessibility to music and music education. She aims to inspire and nourish self-confidence, self-expression, curiosity, and creativity in her students.

EUNA JOH - pianist and composer
Euna Joh is a Korean-American composer and pianist based in New York City. Through her compositions, she strives to unravel the intricate threads that bind memory, culture, and musical expression, forging a deep connection between the past and the present.
As a composer, her compositions have been performed throughout the United States and South Korea. Euna has collaborated with leading musicians including Miranda Cuckson, JACK Quartet (Christopher Otto, Austin Wulliman, John Pickford Richards, Jay Campbell), Windscape (Tara O'Connor, Randall Ellis, Alan R. Kay, Frank Morelli, David Jolley), Unheard-of//Ensemble and Tactus Ensemble.
Euna holds a Master of Music degree in Music Composition from Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Reiko Füting, and a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Music Composition from West Virginia University, where she studied with Peter Amstutz, David Taddie and Yu-Chun Chien.

FOO JENG WONG- pianist and composer
Foo Jeng is a Malaysian composer and pianist. He is a recipient of the New Chamber Ballet Commission, winner of the El Paso Original Music/New Ideas Competition, and a finalist of the American Prize in Composition. Highlights include collaborations with or performances at The DiMenna Center, ArtsBasel, Richard Koh Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center, Ilham Gallery, Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival, Mark Morris Dance Center, and Tenri Cultural Institute.
Foo Jeng is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Composition under the direction of Reiko F
üting and Lewis Nielson. He previously earned his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music.
As a teacher, Foo Jeng has taught piano and composition to students privately and at schools in Boston and New York. Foo Jeng hopes to inspire students by teaching them songs they are interested in learning and developing skills applicable to all parts of life.

HYEWON PARK- jazz pianist and composer
Hyewon Park is a South Korean jazz pianist, composer, and producer currently based in New York and Boston. She received her undergraduate degree from the Berklee College of Music, during which she held the position of composer for the Berklee Jazz Concert Orchestra (directed by Greg Hopkins). She is also the recipient of Berklee’s Annual Commencement Processional Composition Award and Clare Fisher Award. Park holds a Master’s Degree in Jazz Composition from the Manhattan School of Music and is currently a member of the BMI Jazz Composers’ Workshop. Park has worked as the sound designer for the Korean Traditional Opera ‘Chunhyang-jeon’ and as the pianist & audio creative for ‘So Am I-Worthy’. Her debut album, ‘Take the “A” Train,’ transitions from jazz to electronic music as she creates a unique style through the intersecting of these genres.
Park is an enthusiastic music educator and teaches in New York City and Boston as an instructor for the Berklee City Music Program. She is dedicated to sparking a passion for music among her students and is committed to supporting their progress by identifying their individual strengths and musical interests. Park employs various teaching methods tailored to each students’ personalities, interests, and their goals in music.
